Goodday Everyone,
I first want to apologize for my continued slacking. I have to get more posts out, I just have been full of full days and exhausted in getting to it. I am finally back up in Ithaca, have some stuff to take care of tomorrow (I will explain later), and hope to get back on the right track. This chemo regiment really dehydrates me, and the whole no meat thing is starving me of the protein overload and calories I normally get, so it is a double whammy. Good news is that for two whole days I have not been in pain and have strayed away from all the pain meds. Having to go through all of the meds all of the time is tiring on the body as well I guess.
Anyways, I apologize and hopefully I have not lost too many readers with my irratic and infrequent posts.
So Garrett had his Princeton Orientation, and my mother drug me up there for three days of walking and being sort of miserable. She thought walking would be good, I did not quite know, I learned fast that it was tiring, hot, and…tiring. I really fell off the boat since the blood clot. I just have no stamina on this new chemo and/or diet. I do not really eat anymore and have to literally force myself to partake in what used to be my favorite part of the day. It is not like I do not mind salads and whatever, veggie burgers do not taste like burgers, but its tolerable…I just have no appetite.
Well, lucky Adam decided that he felt good enough to go out for the first time in a month last night. Now, I am beginning to think that the astrological powers of the universe love taking dumps on my head in terms of fortune…seriously. So, lets fast forward through the night of not drinking and talk about the two mile drive home. I took the back way intentionally to not hit the checkpoints and whatnots. About a quarter mile from my house I see lights. Now I was not speeding, so I figured it was something stupid beyond belief that caused me to be pulled over and interrogated about my night of drinking…yep, that was it.
So, the guy comes up and asks me if I know why I was pulled over. I said no, but I was sure he was going to enlighten me…apparently my liscence plate light was out. I do not even know what the hell a liscence plate light is. I never seen one on a car, probably given the fact I do not pay attention to moronic bullcrap that gets me in these situations. So, the expected dialogue ensued:
Have you been drinking?
No. Breathalize me.
Where are you coming from?
The Red Jug.
Why were you there?
To meet friends.
How was it?
The usual drunk college crowd on a Saturday night.
You have not drank anything?
No, go get your breathalizer.
Where do you live?
About a thousand feet up the road.
You are not from here are you?
Nope, just a student.
Liscence and registration…
I handed it over expecting to have it ran, be told to get it fixed and to have a nice day…not in NY.
So, here was the dilemna: I missed a court date when I was in the hospital for the ticket I never actually recieved after my accident one year ago. Now, I did write the court and explained the situation and asked for a delay on the trial…in return they sent me a letter dropping the charges. They were dropped, I needn’t show up in court, and all was rosy.
Apparently that letter was not filed through the police system, and I had my liscence suspended unbeknownst to me because in NY they do not tell things like this to out of state drivers, you should just assume it. Even funnier, if you have a suspended liscence, out of staters are expected to pay a daily fine (I found this out later from a policeman I knew) until they get it reinstated. I did get a bill for 300 bucks every six months, one that I was explained in the documentation was to retain driving privilages in NY. Of course I never knew theywere taken away.
So, not just some stupid lamp that I never seen that was used as a complete bullcrap way to pull someone over and see if they are drunk, I was facing a misdemeanor and arrest…for something that was dropped. The officer made the comment that I should have carried the document in my car. I told him it was a year ago and that I did not know I had to carry all my legal documents in my car. I explained the situation, and as he scoffed I told him I was not creative enough to make up the story. He repeated his duty to the law, and I asked if he could at least drive me up to get my chemo before arresting me at 2AM.
Well, making a short story long, he ended up believing me, gave me two tickets, one being a misdemeanor and said to go to the court with my letter to take care of the misunderstanding. Only me, only in this state could you face arrest on charges that were dropped a year after they were dropped…rediculous. So, tomorrow I get to go to the DMV to straghten out the fact that I have an out of state liscence that is valid due to dropped charges, change some lamp I never knew existed to go to a police station and let them know I did that in 24 hours to get one ticket erased, to go to a court to give them the letter they gave me so I can get out of being a potential felon…geeze, if I was going to jail, at this juncture of my life, I would do something to make it worth it. Seriously, not like I have the time (a year or two) or the patience (about ten minutes) to deal with nonsense.
Remember kids, check your liscence plate lamp daily so you don’t have to be like me.
God Bless,
Adam Frey

It is really amazing the amount of crap a person goes through in life. College actually prepares you for that though as you certainly have to go through a lot of that in order to finally graduate.
Adam,
First, I read your posts as fast as you can write them and I wish you the best. Second, check the light before you replace it. I got pulled over for the same thing. Just for kicks I check it and it was fine… The cop was just fishing.
Adam – you seem to have the crappiest luck with the police. Have some stuff fo you at our house – give either me a call (592-2922) or Cay (you know her #) and we can get it to you. Love hugs and prayers.
You know the old saying “If it wasn’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all”! Thank God you still have your sense of humor. Don’t worry so much about updating for our sakes, your first priority is you, we will be here when you need us. Have a better week, the semester is almost over! My prayers for you continue. God Bless!
Geez Adam – great night out! Sorry you have to go through all that trouble.
On the other hand, I hope you can find some food that really TASTES GOOD.
Keep on keeping on.
Many Blessings,
Wrestling Ma
Young Warrior,
we should add the rest of that commandment correctly:
Matthew 22:36-39 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
I am glad you kept your cool. Them policemen are just trying to make quota by giving needless tickets out. I hope you are feeling better. Stay in touch.
Jeremy
Just another patience tester! No apologies needed, Adam.
Still check in daily for any update you may have posted.
